Meet our Conference Elder, Galen Gritts
Cherokee Nation
Mr. Galen Gritts is a member of the Cherokee Nation and has written multiple book reviews on Cherokee history and culture for the Tribe’s newspaper the “Cherokee Phoenix.” He holds a degree in history from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Mr. Gritts has a strong belief that individuals and small groups of people may greatly influence their larger communities. As an active member of the St. Louis community, Mr. Gritts has served on many community boards, including as a community ambassador for the Kathryn M. Buder Center for American Indian Studies at Washington University. Mr. Gritts served five years as a board member of Lutheran Indian Ministries based in Brookfield, WI before becoming an employee for another three years.
